Partnership with Parents

At Northleigh CE Primary School, we are committed to working in close partnership with parents to ensure they are happy with their child's education and progress. We believe it is important that parents are involved in their child's education and we actively encourage parental involvement in the school, wherever possible. We communicate with parents through our weekly newsletters and via curriculum newsletters, so you know about activities and trips to support your children’s learning.

We work in partnership with parents to ensure that our pupils have every opportunity to enjoy, achieve and learn together. We promote positive partnerships with parents, founded on effective, honest and open communication, on mutual respect and the shared aspirations that each child reaches their potential whilst at the school.

We acknowledge that parents are as individual as their children and that their needs, hopes and priorities will vary over time and from one set of parents to another.

We hope that parents will want to be actively involved in their child’s school life, educationally and socially and that they will feel able to contact the school to discuss any worries, concerns or uncertainties that they might have. We encourage parents to actively participate in their child’s education by following up and extending the work carried out in school. We hope that school and home will work together to achieve consistent results across all areas of development by sharing each other’s skills and knowledge. We also hope that parents will want to let us know about significant events that happen outside of school which relate to their child.

Parental involvement with the school includes the following:

Friends

The Friends is a vital part of our school's network, dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of our children. As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of fostering a strong sense of community within our school, and the PTA plays a crucial role in achieving this goal.

There are many reasons to join The Friends. Firstly, by becoming a member, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the educational experiences of our children. Whether it's through organising fundraising events, volunteering in the classroom, or providing input on school initiatives, your involvement makes a tangible difference in the lives of our students. Our goal is to provide the funding to help enhance and further the children's learning experiences and opportunities. Our funds benefit all the children and come from the fundraising initiatives and events we hold during the school year.

Welcome to the Friends of Northleigh School (FONS)

The friends association is an open community of parent volunteers working alongside the school/teachers/and other “friends” to benefit the school and ensure the best educational experience for all of its pupils.

FONS is a small charity that is independent from the school.

How is FONS organised?

FONS have a committee made up of co-chairs, treasurer, secretary and committee members. The core committee usually meets once a month, with smaller working groups to organise individual events.

How is money raised?

We raise money through charity activities and events.

  • From sponsored events, summer fayre, discos and Christmas gifts– we organise events that the children look forward to and enjoy taking part in.
  • FONS even have our own lottery. Be in with a chance of winning the weekly cash prize as well as the £25k jackpot – visit www.yourschoollottery.co.uk and search for Northleigh to find out more and sign up.
  • Sign up to Easy Fundraising and donate to Northleigh every time you shop. Couldn’t be simpler to help the school!

How does FONS benefit the school?

All the money we raise goes back into school to benefit our children. Examples of things we have funded include:

  • Cycling proficiency for Years 5
  • Gym mats
  • ‘Meet the Author’ sessions
  • Non-Fiction books
  • Sports equipment
  • Part funding of coaches for school trips

How can you be involved?

  • Taking an active role in FONS is an amazing way to get involved with the school. There are many ways you can help, whether you have lots of time to offer or not – it all makes a difference.
  • We are always looking for volunteers to help at events - there is no pressure, help when you can, pick what events you want to be involved with. If you are unable to help, don’t worry – just supporting FONS and the events we run makes a huge difference to the school.
